A deeper understanding of God's sovereignty.

Introduction

This workbook is designed to help you deepen your understanding of repentance and strengthen your Christian faith. Over the next 30 minutes, you will engage with Scripture readings, reflect on their meanings, and take action points to implement in your life.

Session Outline

1. Opening Prayer (5 minutes)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being our God. We seek to know You more deeply today. Holy Spirit, guide us into truth and humility as we explore repentance. May our hearts be open to Your teaching. In Jesus' name, Amen.

2. Scripture Readings (10 minutes)

Reading 1: Genesis 3:19 (NIV)
"By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."

Reflection Questions:

  • What does this verse teach us about our humanity and the need for repentance?

  • How can we apply this understanding to our daily lives?

Reading 2: 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NIV)
"Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death."

Reflection Questions:

  • What distinguishes godly sorrow from worldly sorrow?

  • In what areas of your life do you need to seek godly sorrow?

Reading 3: James 2:1-4 (NIV)
"My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, 'Here’s a good seat for you,' but say to the poor man, 'You stand there' or 'Sit on the floor by my feet,' have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?"

Reflection Questions:

  • How does this passage relate to our understanding of judgment and impartiality?

  • Where in your life might you be showing favoritism?

3. Reflection and Action Points (10 minutes)

Reflection: Take a moment to write down your thoughts on the following:

  • What judgments have you made that may need to be repented of?

  • How can you shift your perspective to see others through the lens of love?

Action Points:

  1. Identify a Judgment: Choose one area where you recognize judgment in your life. Write it down.

  2. Pray for Change: Spend a moment in prayer, asking God to help you see this situation differently.

  3. Practice Impartiality: This week, intentionally engage with someone from a different background or circumstance. Reflect on your interactions.

4. Closing Reflection (5 minutes)

Journal Prompt: Reflect on what you learned today about repentance and judgment. How can this change your approach to others and your relationship with God?

Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to engage with this workbook. Remember, repentance is about changing our hearts towards God and embracing His grace. Continue to seek His wisdom and guidance in your daily life.
