The redemptive power of the blood.

Introduction

Welcome to this workbook on the foundational concepts of Christian faith. Today, we will explore the themes of redemption and repentance, focusing particularly on the significance of the blood of Jesus. This session will include Scripture readings, reflection questions, and action points to help you grow in your understanding and practice of your faith.

Session Duration: 30 Minutes

1. Opening Prayer

Begin with a prayer of gratitude and focus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your incredible grace and the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. As we study today, open our hearts to understand the power of Your redemption and the importance of repentance. Help us to grasp the depth of Your love and sacrifice. In Jesus' name, Amen.

2. Scripture Reading

Read the following passages carefully, reflecting on the message they convey.

John 6:46-57 (NKJV):

“Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, ‘How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?’ Then Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.’”

Ephesians 1:3-7 (NKJV):

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

Colossians 1:13-14 (NKJV):

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

3. Reflection Questions

Take a few moments to ponder the following questions.

  1. What does John 6:46-57 reveal about the significance of Jesus’ blood and flesh in our relationship with Him?

  2. How does Ephesians 1:3-7 describe the concept of redemption? What does it mean for you personally to be redeemed through the blood of Christ?

  3. In Colossians 1:13-14, how does redemption impact our position from being under the power of darkness to being part of Christ’s kingdom?

  4. Reflect on the statement: “Without redemption, there would be no power in repentance.” How does understanding redemption change the way you view repentance?

4. Action Points

Apply what you’ve learned through practical steps.

  1. Personal Prayer: Spend 5 minutes in prayer, thanking God for the gift of redemption through Jesus’ blood. Ask Him to help you understand the significance of this redemption in your daily life.

  2. Scripture Memorization: Memorize Ephesians 1:7: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Repeat it daily to reinforce its meaning.

  3. Journaling: Write a journal entry about how understanding redemption has impacted your view of repentance. Reflect on how this new understanding might change your approach to asking for forgiveness.

  4. Share with Others: Reach out to a friend or a fellow believer and share with them what you’ve learned about redemption and repentance. Encourage them to reflect on the Scriptures and apply the insights in their own lives.

  5. Daily Practice: Throughout the week, consciously remind yourself of the redemption you have in Christ. Whenever you face struggles or doubts, recall that His redemption is complete and sufficient.

5. Closing Prayer

End your session with a prayer of commitment.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the profound truth of Your redemption through Your blood. We commit ourselves to living in the light of this truth, confident in Your forgiveness and grace. Help us to embrace both redemption and repentance fully, knowing that You have done all that is necessary for our salvation. Strengthen us as we walk in Your ways and share this message with others. In Your precious name, Amen.

Thank you for taking the time to deepen your understanding of these foundational truths. May your faith be strengthened and your walk with Christ be enriched as you continue to explore and live out these principles.
